OUR MISSION
Materials < Art < Lifestyle
Japanese art has spread through Buddhism and the powerful people of the time, such as the emperor and the shogun.
Kyoto is a town that has left behind many of these stories.
Horikin, the parent company of Shizendo, has been trading materials in Kyoto for over 300 years.
Even after many years, these materials continue to shine within our works.

Materials ∋ "Monozukuri" or Crafting
With the rapid progress of economic development, the "handmade" crafts that existed in our daily lives have been replaced by industrial products. Additionally, due to changes in lifestyle, crafts and works of art such as Buddhist altars and hanging scrolls are rapidly disappearing.
Along with this, the materials we handle are also in decline.
However, even as materials become scarcer, manufacturing continues.

Creativity from around the world x Japanese materials
We want to support "Monozukuri" with hope in the next era of mass production and mass consumption.
For that purpose, we will begin to share Japan's unique materials and culture with the world.
What kind of crafts will begin when the world's creators encounter Japanese materials?
We believe that this free creativity gives strength to Japanese materials.
We would like to be a Shizendo that supports creativity and makes use of creativity.
- In honor of all creators -
