Genuine Gold Powder

Gold Powder is made by crushing gold leaf and kneading it together with melted animal glue (nikawa) until it breaks into micro-fragments. Typical gold leaf is about 0.2 μm thick and is pulverized laterally to an average size of around 3 μm. Afterward, the glue is washed out with plenty of water and the powder is dried, yielding a fine, smooth material ideal as a painting medium for art and crafts.
